Goal(s)

Intro jump session using poles, tarp, and cavaletti to build confidence.

Process

Help beginner experience different visual stimuli and low-impact jumps in a controlled arena setting, improving balance, curiosity, and calmness.
1. Warm up at the walk and trot around the arena.
2. Introduce horses to the tarp laid flat on the ground — walk over it.
3. Walk over poles — single then two in a row.
4. Add cavaletti in the middle, with tarp in front.
5. Build a tiny cross rail or two poles stacked with tarp under.
6. Repeat in both directions with focus on rhythm, relaxation, and straight lines.

Difficulties

Start simple, then gradually increase the complexity of the path.
If the horse shows confidence, proceed to more combinations.
If hesitant, go back a step and reward calmness.
End on a good note with praise and walking on a loose rein.

Jumping | Easy

The horse will settle into the ground poles, and this repetition will help him develop a regular stride followed by an easy jump. This setup will require riders to become invisible and simply feel the sensations of a good approach, maintaining the balance of the canter.
